Welcome
Thank you for stopping by.
My friends tell me I’m way too serious. But as I try to explain to them – I think thinking is fun! In fact, with my addictive personality (I’m 29 years clean and sober) – I may be a bit addicted to those “ah-ha!” moments when connections are made and your Point Of View is altered in some way. That’s why I’m calling this blog LGBT POV.
But as Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner so beautifully describe in “The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe,” one of the best ways to get goosebumps is by sharing those connections through thought or emotion, or trying to describe the ineffable magical experience of being awestruck by love, nature or art. So I’ve asked some interesting people to contribute their POV upon occasion to expand the universe our vision can comprehend.
And while this blog is intended for the LGBT community in the Los Angeles area – especially as we are impacted by local, state and national politics – I am also interested in subjects that don’t seem specifically LGBT but matter to us such as the economy, the environment, pets, books, and personal stories. So while the weekdays will be dedicated to news, essays, links to important stories elsewhere and previewing upcoming events, on the weekends you might see a long form political analysis alongside first-person stories of grassroots activists – thanks to help from grassroots maven Syd Peterson – as well as book suggestions from Kerry Slattery’s team over at Skylight Books or pet adoptions from actress/rescuer Julia Pennington.
This is my intention, my LGBT POV: to have fun thinking and share that with you.
Goosebumps for everyone.
